The goal came as a relief after some Drayton pressure.. Troke is almost through but robbed in the area. Tait shot hits a defender. Corner is headed clear. 2-0 69 minutes

It's been a mini collapse by Drayton. Troke nearly gets another. GOAL Drayton 85 minutes Durrant clearance is charged down. Durrant races back but Ciam Barnsley follows it up to score on the line . 4 -1 85 minutes

Thomas effort turned round post by keeper. Maguire can't reach Reid's cross as Ilkeston look fo 5th goal. Drayton keeper like Ross has had a good game. Chance for Zak but he blazes wide. 4-1 90 minutes

Saturday 10th October 2020 : Northern Premier League - South East Division
Market Drayton Town 1 Ilkeston Town 5
Two goals each for Alex Troke and Zak Goodson and a James Reid special in added time gave Ilkeston an emphatic win which didn’t always look likely as up until the hour mark, Drayton were well in the game.
Ilkeston got off to a good start with an excellent finish by Alex Troke on 12 minutes after being found by James Reid. Unfortunately, after that Ilkeston went off the boil and allowed Drayton to get back into the game. Declan Arber had a chance for Drayton before Mitchell Tait nearly doubled Ilkeston’s lead when his 25 yarder thudded against an upright. Drayton then had a big one-on-one opportunity to equalise just before half time but Durrant rescued Ilkeston with an important save.
Drayton had another chance early in the second half when Durrant turned a powerful Jamie Hands free kick round the post. On 50 minutes Ilkeston had a chance to go two up with a penalty after Jack Thomas was brought down. However, Troke’s spot kick was saved by Sam Angus who also saved Nat Watson’s follow up. Lucas Green-Birch should have equalised for Drayton but he put his shot the wrong side of the post and Drayton were made to pay for that miss when Goodson scored Ilkeston’s second with 62 minutes gone. His first header came back off the bar but he was able to nod in the rebound. The goal demoralised Drayton and Ilkeston at last started to dominate. A Mason Lee header across goal left Goodson with an easy finish to make it 3-0 on 77 minutes and four minutes later Troke rifled in another. Three minutes from time Drayton got one back when Cian Barnsley charged down Durrant’s clearance and forced the loose ball over the line. There was just enough time for James Reid to complete the scoring with a typical piece of Reid skill before the full time whistle sounded.

Never really got going until after an hour. We were in much better physical shape than them so it was always likely that would tell in the end

Pitch was soft and grass was long. Not that they are excuses but passing the ball wasn’t easy. That said, once the second goal came they folded. If we’d scored the pen it might have been 7 or 8. But 5 will do despite not being at our best

It’s been a busy couple of weeks. Playing 80 minutes with 10 on a heavy pitch Tuesday took its toll. Hopefully we’ve not picked up too many knocks ahead of ‘knockout week’

Won 6 drawn 1 after an average pre season. We’d have taken that if offered it for sure
