    Star man

    Decided to keep a record of who has been the star player in each match. Alex has been asking the question "Who was your man of the match?"
    By general consensus these are the results so far :

    Ilkeston v Shepshed             -    Zak Goodson
    Cleethorpes v Ilkeston          -    James Reid
    Coventry Sphinx v Ilkeston   -    Jack Thomas

    not sure about the Shepshed game as i wasnt there but .......
    The Cleethorpes game i thought Joe Wilson. 
    Last night v Sphinx mmmmmm a hard one but i really thought Joe Maguire .
    Going back to Joe Wilson out of the two games i have seen him the more i am very impressed with . The Cleethorpes game a few of went behind the goal we were defending in the second half. Cleethorpes players were pinging balls to the left and right as much as they could . Just thought  for a young player Wilson looks a very competent right back.

    Have to admit that Joe Wilson's form as been a big bonus and has exceeded my expectations. He's made the position his own and looks to have a big future. At Cleethorpes he had a good winger against him and he did exceptionally well. 
     
    As regards 'man of the match' there will always be differences of opinion and in the first few games every player has been good.

    Kieran Fenton for me against Stamford although James Reid, Jack Thomas and Alex Troke worth a shout! However to be honest MoM has to be Morgan or Matwassa of Stamford they are class Can We sign them?

    My view on Mitchell Tait
    When he was picked to play against Stamford I thought we were taking a risk. But he had a decent game and that was against top class opposition. He was picked again against Hanley and he shone like a beacon. To get man of the match on your second game is a massive achievement for one so young.

    So according to supporters who voted, the two players who have been our star performers over the 13 matches so far have been Jack Thomas and Joe Wilson with several other players named above not far behind

    For me the player who has exceeded expectations the most this season is Alex Troke  (12 goals in 13 competitive matches)

    Some players do not get the star player accolade but play consistently well in every game and one player who fit into this category is Billy Bennett
