Coalville v Ilkeston : Live Updates

Live updates will be here as usual tomorrow. For supporters who cannot travel there are two ways to follow the match. There are updates here and also on the IFC twitter feed. The Clubs twitter feed is updated by the superb Amar Sharma. By flicking between here and IFC twitter you will not miss a thing and you can get two viewpoints of the action. Myself and Amar watch the game independently from separate positions and therefore we both report on incidents as we personally see them at the time.

Re: Coalville v Ilkeston : Live Updates

Coalville Town may have two ex Robins in their team today. Liam Walshe initially played for Ilkeston Town in 2005 under Phil Stant. He left the New Manor Ground apparantly to go back packing! He returned to local football and played for Gresley, Stafford Rangers and Mickleover Sports. Messiah MacDonald split opinion amongst the fans during his brief pre season spell with the Robins a few years ago. However Messiah is not just a very naughty boy he is a very good footballer and has also turned out for Alfreton, Corby and a host of other clubs.

It's sunny at the moment but there's plenty of cloud. The teams are out on this much improved ground.
Ilkeston are playing up the slope in the first half. We're off.

Re: Coalville v Ilkeston : Live Updates

Coleman nearly breaks through. Good chance for Ravens' Woodward but he doesn't c connect properly. Shelton does well at other end but his shot is saved.Optimistic lob by Coalville winger drops over the bar.

Outstanding hold up play by Dwyer. Good attack by Coalville ends with header too high.

Good save from Durrant on 43 minutes keeps scores level. Ball the drops for Rose but his blast is just wide. Strong penalty appeal by Ilkeston but it's turned down.

There's been a big fallout between officials of both clubs.  Ref is now having difficulty keeping control.

Re: Coalville v Ilkeston : Live Updates

Malachi Lavell Moore scored a third and winner for Ilkeston in added time with a tremendous dipping shot from 25 yards out!
A hard fought win especially considering they played most of the second half with ten men. The dismissal galvanised Ilkeston and Coalville could not take advantage of their numerical supremacy. It is wins like this which bond the players and those supporters present! A tremendous display and possibly this young side have turned a corner.
My Man of the Match was Malachi Lavell Moore with his two goals and all round work rate. There were other tremendous performances from Ben Morris, Louis Rose, Mark Shelton, Matt Baker and Luke Foster. Finally Ross Durrant had another excellent game and made a couple of match winning saves. As for the ref he will be very disappointed to have been so bad in front of an assessor!

Re: Coalville v Ilkeston : Live Updates

Apologies for the breakdown in service in the second half. It was really frustrating not to to be able to report on such a momentous period of the match.
Following Ilkeston has it's ups and downs and today was the day to make all supporters forget the bad times. When we were reduced to ten players it was a case of could we hold out. No one expected the final outcome.
Dexter Atkinson had not long been on when he went up for a ball with a Coalville player. The Coalville player was left on the deck. The game went on for 30 seconds or so before the referee decided to stop the game. There had been no flag from the linesman at the time of the incident. The referee now goes over to the linesman to consult. The Coalville players were saying that Atkinson had elbowed the Coalville player. The ref eventually shows a red card to Atkinson even though he and the linesman had not indicated a foul at the time. The Coalville player came off with a facial injury and Coalville were given a belated free kick. Officials of both sides were incensed by the incident and the decision.
With Ilkeston a player down Coalville sensed that they could win. Ilkeston were forced to defend and rely on the occasional break. This they did and despite Coalville's man advantage they weren't able to create many real openings. The game went into added time with most Ilkeston supporters wanting to hear the full time whistle. Then out of the blue Malachi Lavelle-Moore volleyed home an unbelievable shot into the roof of the net from way outside the area. He ran to the delighted travelling fans and was mobbed by every Ilkeston player. What a finish.  The Coalville players were left deflated and could not find a response in the remaining minutes. Malachi has now scored four goals in the last three games. I spoke to Dexter after the game. He was clearly very upset at his dismissal saying "I may have caught him but it was purely accidental."
