    Promotion and relegation

    In my opinion there can be no promotion and relegation this season after so few games have been played. 

     Promotion and relegation must be based on a formula that all teams knew about and had agreed on before the season started.  

    If leagues wanted promotion and relegation to take place in an incomplete season then they should have come up with an acceptable contingency plan for deciding how it should be done.  

    Because this wasn’t done, certain clubs and their supporters are now suggesting formulas that happen to suit their own clubs.  

    I always thought that the NPL had a contingency plan in place if it became obvious that this season couldn’t be completed. There was talk of a shortened season with fewer fixtures but the league are now recommending that this season to be declared null and void like last season.

    Perhaps we could have smaller League competitions which could resemble promotion and relegation play offs. You could have a top ten and bottom ten play off or even a top seven and bottom seven play off with a mid table six play off.  The play offs could be a league or a knockout or a mixture of both.

    i am all for null and void for this season , yes i feel gutted for Stamford and Leek yet again but there wasn`t enough of the season played . If we had gone to half way through the season i would have said yes give the season to the league leaders and second , BUT having said that if you had say a team within the three points of second , well you could have a play off situation if possible . But like i said null and void for me.

    Yes I can understand what you are saying but I think the fans will need some form of competitive football to look forward to. The issue is always going to be at what point will it be safe to watch football at the NMG.Until then everything is uncertain and I think null and void will most likely be the eventual outcome as people will not want to relax restrictions too quickly.

    But the other thread about the proposed mini tournament between local teams sounds a great idea .  Its actually been mentioned on Twitter this afternoon .
