Curtis Burrows brace for Dynamo

.
REPORT: QUORN 1-4 LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO  BY KIERAN KING
1 DAY AGO
It was a comfortable success for The Moes, who scored two in each half to beat their Step 5 opponents  Loughborough Dynamo produced a dominant performance to secure a 4-1 win over Quorn in a friendly at Farley Way Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Goals from Danny Gordon and Curtis Burrows gave The Moes a two-nil lead, and although Tawanda Mangondoza pulled one back, an own-goal and Burrows’ second of the game sealed the victory for Lee Attenborough’s side.
Quorn, who ply their trade in the United Counties League, started the game in the ascendency and came close to scoring the opener, but Chib Chilaka was unable to steer his effort on target.
However, it was Dynamo who took the lead through a moment of good fortune. Dan Collins latched onto a long ball but Callum Ball’s clearance fell straight to Gordon whose low shot rolled into the back of the net.
After a slow start, the goal lifted The Moes, who scored a second on 15 minutes. Burrows’ free-kick flew over the wall and in off the woodwork despite claims that the ball didn’t cross the line.
Tristan Matthews almost added a third moments later as Gordon drove into a superb cross to the midfielder but he steered his shot wide.
By this point, Dynamo were in control of proceedings and started to play some delightful football. Just before half-time, a superb move saw Matthews play a one-two with Rob Norris and the ball fell to Garnett but his effort was saved by the goalkeeper.
Ahead at the break, The Moes were heading for another friendly victory but Quorn halved the deficit in the 53rd minute. Mangondoza drove into the box before firing the ball into the bottom corner past Jay Alexander.
Although the hosts had a brief spell on top, Dynamo soon restored their two-goal advantage. Dean Freeman’s long ball caused havoc and Ball headed the ball beyond the goalkeeper and into the net.
Quorn kept fighting and earned themselves an opportunity to score a second from the penalty spot. Ball stepped in an attempt to make amends from his earlier error, but he dragged the spot-kick well wide of target.
As the Foxhunters pushed to get back into the contest, it opened up space for The Moes on the counter-attack, which presented chances for Andre Williams and Brett Lloyd but both squandered good opportunities.
On 81 minutes, Dynamo wrapped up the victory as Burrows found half-a-yard of space on the edge of the box, before drilling a low effort in off the post for the second of the match.
Substitute Alex Steadman had a late chance to grab a fifth for the visitors, but he was unable to take it as The Moes held on for a comfortable success in their third friendly since the restart of football.
