REPORT:
LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 0-3 LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY

BY KIERAN KING   4 HOURS AGO
By James Kendrick

On the day fans were allowed back at the Nanpantan Sports Stadium, Loughborough Dynamo fell to a disappointing 3-0 defeat against Loughborough University. It was a game that struggled to get going with the difference between the teams being that Loughborough University managed to take their chances when they came along resulting in a second friendly defeat in a row for Dynamo. In a very stop-start first half, there were very few chances as the game was broken up by lots of fouls. The Moes started brightly but they were forced into an early change after Jack Smith was forced off with a hamstring injury which disrupted their flow. Things went from bad to worse for Loughborough Dynamo as Ronan Silva weaved his way into the box and smashed his effort into the corner of the goal to make it 1-0 to Loughborough University.
In the second half, the game flowed a bit more as Dynamo fatigued and The Scholars piled on the pressure. The Moes defended valiantly as Luke Thorogood blocked a dangerous shot and Jay Alexander made a good save but there was nothing the Dynamo keeper could do about the second goal as Connor Smith doubled the visitors lead with a good finish from inside the box. Dynamo did then look to push forward and get back in the game as Evan Garnett had a shot that was straight at the keeper before setting up Curtis Burrows who put his shot wide. Loughborough University then capped off a poor day for Loughborough Dynamo by making it 3-0 in the last few minutes on a day to forget for the home side.

Loughborough Dynamo first-team manager Lee Attenborough has committed his future to the club for the 2021/22 Northern Premier League season.

Assistant manager Brad Munn and coach Steven Venables have also agreed to stay as they look to build on the last season’s success before the campaign was curtailed.
After assisting Pete Ward throughout the 2017/18 season, Attenborough was appointed as permanent boss at the start of the following season, as Munn joined as part of the backroom staff. Despite a tricky first few months, the pair guided The Moes to end in eighth in the Northern Premier League East Division, which was the joint-highest finish in the club’s history.
The club sat second in the curtailed 2020/21 season with a record of six wins, one draw and one loss.

BURROWS PENS NEW CONTRACT
BY KIERAN KING

Loughborough Dynamo is delighted to confirm that midfielder Curtis Burrows has penned a new one-year contract to remain at the Club for the forthcoming season. The 24-year-old joined The Moes in March 2019 from Coalville Town and has impressed since making the move, scoring 18 goals in 50 competitive appearances to date. Burrows made his debut in a 3-2 defeat at Frickley Athletic but played an important role in Dynamo’s six-game winning run to finish the 2018/19 season, as he grabbed two assists in the thumping victory against Pickering Town on the final day. After a positive pre-season, Burrows started the following campaign in fine form, scoring four goals in their opening three competitive matches. Despite missing the last two games through suspension, the ex-Grantham man finished the suspended season as the Club’s top scorer with 11 goals. Having served the last of his three match ban in the 6-0 victory over Lutterworth Town, Burrows was named on the bench at Worksop Town, but returned to the starting side at Stocksbridge. He scored the opener in South Yorkshire on route to a 2-0 success and Burrows went onto score a further six times before 2020/21 was curtailed. He and Carl Sibson are the only outfielders to start every game in Dynamo’s five friendlies since the restart of football in April and has grabbed two assists whilst putting in a Man of the Match performance at Long Eaton. Having put pen to paper on a new deal, Burrows becomes the first player to commit their future to the Club ahead of the new campaign and will be looking to better his previous totals this time around.
