Another save by keeper this time from Goodson but it's offside anyway. There's the full time whistle.
Ilkeston 2 Clifton 0
Incredible that Ilkeston only scored two. A really good performance in terms of possession and passing.
Good to see Reid back in action and on form. Lambert was on fire tonight showing the form he's capable of. Verma was again class. The team are starting to look good. We look a really strong squad. When changes were made the momentum stayed the same.

Better. A welcome clean sheet. Not the brightest start again but ball retention was good as were patterns of play
Lots of questions for the manager as Reid Marzano Brown - Hill Lambert Rogers & Irvine all impressed in patches
Troke was MOM for me. Played in a variety of positions and was never found wanting - but quite a few ran him close. We looked really comfortable in possession throughout
A good nights work

Tue 3rd August 2021 Pre-season Friendly
ILKESTON TOWN 2 CLIFTON ALL WHITES 0
In terms of possession and passing, this was Ilkeston’s best pre-season performance so far and a welcome clean sheet. Clifton provided robust opposition and could have gone ahead in the opening minute but for a fine save by Ilkeston keeper Ross Durrant. Martin Carruthers used seventeen players and made several changes during both halves as he continued to search for his best formation and give all of the squad their opportunity. Influential James Reid returned from injury and was back at his best.
Clifton started strongly and matched Ilkeston in the early stages but the Robins gradually took control and only an inspired display by the Clifton keeper stopped more goals flying in. Defender, Joe Maguire twice went close to giving Ilkeston the lead before he finally made the break through on 43 minutes heading home Billy Bennett’s free kick.
Kole Lambert scored with a superb strike in the 52nd minute to double the lead after being fed by the excellent Aman Verma. A Charlie Wakefield shot was inches wide and Ollie Brown-Hill was twice denied by the All Whites keeper who then pulled off a real super save to keep out Lambert’s effort. As Ilkeston piled on the pressure, first Alex Troke then Charlie Wakefield saw shots slam against the woodwork. Zak Goodson was close in the closing minutes but the third goal which Ilkeston’s performance deserved was to elude them.
