Rylands are frustrating Ilkeston with fouls and time wasting. No wonder there’s another Handbags situation.
Weak ref is only issuing yellows.    1-2.   82 mins

Rylands are defending for their lives.  Youmbi gets MOTM. Yet another bad foul by Rylands.   Walker shoots well wide.  Fox brought down in area  Again nothing given  but he should have scored.     1-2.  88 mins

There’s been quite a hold up. Not sure what’s happened.
Crowd are shouting foe Pilling to be dismissed.  The ref doesn’t seem to know what to do.

Youmbi has left the field.   (sent off ? ).
As he was leaving the field, it looked like the lino was telling him to come back. He clearly wasn't aware that Youmbi had received a red card.

The ground has gone crazy .     Full Time.    2 -2.

Unreal finish.   Apparently Rylands manager was red carded in the touch line incident

Appeals being made for supporters to come away from the tunnel so that Rylands players and the officials can leave the pitch.

The players are still on the pitch.

Never has a draw been greeted with such applause.  Rylands players have now left the pitch at the half way line.
Ilkeston fans are so happy they don’t want to leave.

I was told after the game that Ryland’s manager and two others on his bench had received red cards.
Essien and Youmbi received red cards for Ilkeston.

Sat 18th October 2025
Northern Premier League
Ilkeston Town 2 Warrington Rylands 2
Robbie Fox rescued a point for Ilkeston in the 11th minute of added time in a dramatic finish to an incident packed game. Both teams went into this match on unbeaten runs and despite Ilkeston dominating most of the game it looked like Rylands would take the points. Rylands used every tactic to prevent Ilkeston from equalising but justice prevailed in the end when Fox scored his late leveller.

Ilkeston started well but Rylands took the lead with their first effort on goal after 9 minutes by Ben Hardcastle. Back came Ilkeston and five minutes later Jordan Stevens’s cross was headed against the bar by Sam Parker. Another effort hit the post before the equaliser came on 31 minutes. Dylan Youmbi’s effort was blocked but Harvey Kirby-Moore was there to apply the finish. Just before half time Youmbi broke free with just Rylands keeper Luke Pilling to beat. Ilkeston’s winger was well and truly taken out by Pilling but despite shouts for a red card he was let off with a yellow. There was time for Pilling to deny Stevens with a superb finger tip save.

The start of the second half was Rylands best spell. Harrison Wood forced Alfie Roberts to push his shot over the bar. Ilkeston then thought they should have had a penalty. Kirby-Moore challenged Pilling for a high ball and was flattened but the ref gave Rylands a free kick. Roberts rescued Ilkeston again but on 56 minutes Hardcastle scored his second to restore Rylands lead. Ilkeston threw everything at Rylands with Youmbi the instigator of most of the attacks. Rylands resorted to managing the game the best they could with some of their tactics not appreciated by the home support. There was another Ilkeston penalty appeal when Fox was sent tumbling but again it was turned down. Five minutes added time was indicated but after three minutes there was a long delay due to a scuffle at the Rylands bench which escalated into a handbags situation including most of the players. Red card were shown to officials of both teams and to Ilkeston’s Sam Essien and Dylan Youmbi. So on resumption, Ilkeston were reduced to nine players. But that didn’t stop them looking for the elusive equaliser. When the only possible outcome looked like a gallant defeat, up came Fox with a leveller and the NMG erupted in celebration.

What a game, Essien and Youmbi are clicking now and driving us on, great team performance. How their keeper stayed on I dont know. Will miss them when the suspension kicks in.

what was the final dismissal count, Ilkeston 2 players and no staff, Warrington 1 player and 1 staff ?

I did not think Warrington had any players sent off! It’s a shame about the events that led up to Ilkeston Towns two best players being sent off! They were not very pretty. I think the events motivated the nine men of Ilkeston to get something from the game so in reality the refs lack of control cost Warrington the three points. Hopefully the refs report does not lead to big fines for both clubs!

NPL round-up | Lancaster stay top, big win for FC United and Ilkeston snatch dramatic point

The Dolly Blues made it 12 games without defeat in the league, against a side widely fancied to be challenging for top spot before the season began. After a shock defeat against Whitby Town in midweek, Hednesford failed to find an immediate response but remain remain in the play-off places.

One of the most dramatic games of the afternoon came at Ilkeston Town, where the Robins snatched a remarkable point against Warrington Rylands. Despite being down to nine men at the time of their equaliser after a stoppage-time skirmish involving both benches led to red cards for Dylan Youmbi and Sam Essien, Robbie Fox's looping finish over Rylands goalkeeper Luke Pilling in the 101st minute saw the home side earn a 2-2 draw. The in-form Ben Hardcastle had earlier scored twice for the Blues, either side of Harvey Kirby-Moore's effort for Ilkeston. Still, Rylands were forced to settle for a draw - their seventh of the league campaign to date.

Meanwhile, FC United of Manchester picked up a big three points on their travels as Adam Le Fondre's early goal saw them past Gainsborough Trinity. Returning to league action for the first time in four weeks, Gainsborough came away empty-handed as the division's two best defences went head-to-head. In the end, it was FC United's backline which came out on top, recording an eighth clean sheet in 11 league games.

Another game with real intrigue came in the north-east, where Ashton United moved to within touching distance of the play-offs with a 2-1 win at Stockton Town. All goals came in the first half, with Darius Osei opening the scoring for Ashton. A wonderful strike from outside the area saw Josh Scott level things up for Stockton, but they would still come out on the wrong side of the result after former Warrington Town striker Enock Lusiama capitalised on a mix-up at the back to score the winner on his Robins debut. Saturday's result saw Stockton's unbeaten league start at the MAP Group UK Stadium come to an end.

Another who are just outside of the top five are Bamber Bridge, who recorded an impressive 2-0 win away at Whitby Town. Goals in either half from Kofi Moore and Jamie Allen proved to be enough for the Brig as they earned back-to-back wins and climbed above the Seasiders in the process. It proved to be a difficult afternoon for Whitby, who were reduced to 10 men shortly before half-time when Frankie Allen was shown a straight red card for a last-man foul on Ewan Bange.

Completing the top 10 after the latest round of fixtures are Cleethorpes Town, despite the Owls going down 2-1 at Rushall Olympic. Liam McAlinden's fine half-volley broke the deadlock in the second half, with Jack Burgess' close-range finish making it two. Adam Haw netted a consolation for Cleethorpes in the 86th minute as they failed to find a leveller in the time that remained.

Elsewhere, Stocksbridge Park Steels recorded their third win in a row, defeating Prescot Cables 2-1. Goals in either half from Oliwier Grzelak and Luke Rawson helped Steels continue their recent resurgence. Despite James Steele scoring his first goal for Cables, they were unable to prevent a first home league defeat of the season.

The highest-scoring game of the weekend saw Hebburn Town share the spoils with Leek Town after a six-goal thriller. In a game which saw both sides lead at points, Hebburn looked to be on course for all three-points deep into stoppage time. But Louis Potts' 96th minute header snatched a point for Leek, helping the Blues end a run of four straight league defeats. Hebburn remain 14th in the table, two points and two places above Leek.

At the Cal.Delivery Stadium, Warrington Town recorded a much-needed win at home to managerless Guiseley. Liam Brazier's first for the club saw the Yellows take a first-half lead, with midfielder Reece Daly arrowing home a second shortly after half-time. Paul Carden's side had chances to add to their lead as the game wore on, but in the end settled for a 2-0 win which saw them pick up just their second league victory of the season. They remain in the relegation zone, four points from safety, after Stocksbridge's win away at Prescot.

The final game of the weekend saw Morpeth Town defeat Workington 2-0 in a battle between the bottom two. First-half goals from Nic Bollado and Dan Myers steered Morpeth to just their second league win of the season. Saturday's result continued Workington's difficult run of form away from home - the Reds losing six of their seven league games away from Borough Park since the season began.

Results - Saturday 18 October

  • Gainsborough Trinity 0-1 FC United of Manchester
  • Hebburn Town 3-3 Leek Town
  • Ilkeston Town 2-2 Warrington Rylands
  • Lancaster City 0-0 Hednesford Town

  • Rushall Olympic 2-1 Cleethorpes Town
