Ilkeston Town can confirm that centre half Essa Janneh has left the club. We thank Essa for his time at the Microlise New Manor Ground and wish him all the very best for the future. #OneTownOneClub

More penny-pinching?

Looks like the club are happy to scrape in just about the relegation spots... But hey ho, at least there's a bar to drink in for a few 'hardcore' fans

It’s interesting! Maybe he does not want to sit on the bench as he has already quite a few different clubs for a young player? Maybe Ilkeston cannot afford to have him sitting on the bench? Maybe Deaks came to the conclusion he is not needed? Maybe his agent does not wanting him sitting on the bench? Maybe we will never know but players do come and go and in the past we have let go who looked to have potential but have never gone further ie. Stern Irvine, Alex Render, Mitchell Tait,  etc on the other hand there is always a Mark Shelton, Callum Howe, Lee Ndlovu, Christian Oxlade-Chamerlain etc.

Some good players mentioned above that for what ever reason didn’t fulfil their potential..  I thought Mitchell Tait was a real prospect, good on the ball, a good defender and good going forward. Something went wrong somewhere and his potential didn’t materialise.  The same goes for Stern Irvine who looked to be a really solid defender but who didn’t progress to the higher leagues. Maybe it’s something that managers see but supporters don’t?

Re Alessa Janneh - I was surprised to hear that he had left as I thought he looked quite good. I was also surprised that he recently only made the bench.  Anyway either he himself or Deaks has made the decision that he has to go.  Maybe Deaks has a replecement lined up or maybe our injury situation has improved slightly with Thornhill and Minkley playing at Leek.

Now we know why, last season the loanees from Mansfield were not up to it , let’s see what theses lads provide.
If on loan are they free? Ie no wages to pay ?

The two Sheffield lads look good but not sure about the wingback. Played for Pickering and Knaresbrough who are at step five aren't they ?

According to footballwebpages Fedel Ross-Lang made 7 substitute appearances for Garforth Town between Dec 24 and Feb 25.  Gatforth are in the NPL East Division ( Step 4) and finished 9th last season. So it looks like this is a step up for him.  But let’s give him a chance and not pre-judge.
