Carvell's cross is too near the keeper and he cuts it out. Verma loses the ball and Histon nearly get one back the shot is just wide. At the other end Carvell shot is inches wide. Carvell's speedy runs is causing havoc.

Couple of meaty challenges should have been punished with yellows by an overly lenient ref. Their 9 & 8 gave five or 6 fouls away first half yet Maguire sees yellow for his first foul

Played some nice stuff and you can only beat what’s in front of you. Clean sheet and a boost to the goal difference. A good day at the office

In case you didn't know I have the privilege of looking after visiting officials on match days before the game, at half time and immediately after the game. 

After yesterday's game I wasn't sure what I should say to the Histon officials. But massive credit to them, they came to me and congratulated Ilkeston on their performance. They also said Ilkeston was one of the best grounds they had visited and were full of praise for our facilities. I was truly humbled by their attitude following a 8 nil battering. 

This is the wonderful world of Non League football.

 

Yes, somewhat of a mismatch and a game you don’t learn a lot from. Couple of things.
 
I thought the new right-back, Tommy Williams, showed promise offensively (not really tested defensively). Showed good vision and played some good through balls and seemed to link up well with Zak Goodson.
 
I’m sure you get scouts everywhere, but Alex was telling me that a scout from Solihull Moors has watched our last 4 games. If so, who is he (presuming it’s a he!) looking at? Who could play at National League level, or more likely, who has the potential to play at National League level? Charlie Wakefield (for me our best player this season so far), Ross Durrant? Mitchell Tait? Remaye Campbell? Zak Goodson? Anyone else heard anything?
