There’s a bit of a wait for this one as there is no match on Sat 19th Sep due to the scheduled game against Warrington Rylands being postponed because of their FA Cup involvement.

Did we not lose to them in the FA cup last year/ year before when they were in a lower league than us?

Also Harvey Kirby Moore is there so he’s bound to score against us 🤦‍♂️

We lost to them in the FA Cup four years ago on penalties after drawing 1-1 and 3-3.

Anstey Nomads were promoted to the Southern league Premier Central last season after promotion as Champions from the NPL Midlands Division with 92 points from 42 matches and only six defeats. Incredibly they finished above Carlton who led them by 15 points at one point in the season.

They have started well at Step 3 : P7, W4, D2, L1. F13, A7, Pts 14

After winning our first two games the enormity of our task has become clear with just one point gleened from the next seven matches . Steps have been taken to improve the team but improvement isn’t instant, it takes time. Meanwhile we have to do our best. The free Saturday on the 19th gives us some time for the players to get know each other and we then have the FA Trophy game which should take some pressure off our league survival ambitions. Of course we want to do well in the Trophy but it’s a "free” game where the players aren’t under the continual stress of needing points.

I think the home defeat to Quorn made it clear that the team wasn't quite up to the required standard. It’s still early in the season so there’s plenty of time to recover but we need to see some signs of improvement against Anstey who are a very good side.

Last season we got through two rounds of the FA Trophy beating Evesham and St Ives before losing to Curzon Ashton.

We’ve only been ahead at half time in one game (Emley).

In our first 3 matches we didn't concede a first half goal but in the next seven league and Cup matches we've conceded 12 first half goals.

Nomads beat Step 4 opponents Newcastle Town 2-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday

They play again tomorrow night (22nd Sep) against Alvechurch

We have now gone 8 games without a win

But there’s a long way to go to equal the matches without a win which occurred In our 2016-17 Ilkeston FC relegation season In that season we went 18 games without a win

On 22nd Oct 2016 we won 3-2 at Coalville. The next win after that was on 18th Feb 2017 when we beat Sutton Coldfield at home 1-0.

In between we picked up just 3 draws against Marine (A), Whitby (A) and Coalville (H).

Among the 15 defeats was a 7-0 humiliation at Mickleover on Boxing Day.

We finished next to bottom with 27 points ( P46. W7. D6. L33. F31. A86 . Pts. 27)

But they’re now behind 2-1.

THE LEICESTER CITY CONNECTION AT ANSTEY NOMADS…
There’s something pretty interesting happening just a few miles away from the King Power.
Anstey Nomads might be playing their football in the non-league pyramid, but look a little closer and you’ll find plenty of Leicester City DNA around the club.
Former Foxes goalkeeper Conrad Logan is now the manager at Anstey. Logan spent more than a decade with Leicester City after joining the club as a youngster and was still around the Foxes during that incredible 2015/16 Premier League-winning era. He later became heavily involved at Anstey, initially coaching and helping develop the club before eventually taking charge of the first team.
And he isn’t the only familiar name.
Former Leicester striker David Nugent has also been brought into the coaching setup at Anstey. Nugent became a massive fan favourite during his four years with the Foxes, scoring 54 goals in 159 league appearances and helping Leicester win promotion back to the Premier League.
There’s also Martyn Waghorn, another former Leicester forward who has been involved with Anstey Nomads after a career that included spells at Rangers, Ipswich and Derby County. Waghorn originally joined Leicester in 2009 before signing permanently and went on to make more than 100 league appearances for the club.
Midfielder Aman Verma also came through the Leicester City system before going on to build a long career in non-league football and later representing Anstey.
It makes Anstey one of the most interesting local clubs to keep an eye on.
Former professional players, strong local links and a club that has continued to grow both on and off the pitch.
For Leicester supporters wanting to get into non-league football, Anstey Nomads might be the perfect place to start.
